Biographie:

Patrick LE CALLET is currently full professor at  Ecole polytechnique de l’université de Nantes. He has teaching as an Assistant professor from 1997 to 1999 and as a full time lecturer from 1999 to 2003 at the department of Electrical engineering of Technical Institute of University of Nantes (IUT). Since 2003 is teaching at Ecole polytechnique de l’université de Nantes (Engineer School) in the Electrical Engineering and the Computer Science departments.  He was also a student at the Ecole Normale Superieure de Cachan where he sat the “Aggrégation” (credentialing exam) in electronics of the French National Education. In 1997, he joined the Image & Video Communication group at CNRS IRCCyN. Since 2006, he is the head of this group that includes 9 permanent professors, 16 post doc and phd students, 5 research engineers. He is mostly engaged in research dealing with the application of human vision modeling in image and video processing. His current centers of interest are 3D image and video quality assessment, watermarking techniques and visual attention modeling and applications.

He has coordinated and is currently managing for IRCCyN several National or European collaborative research programs representing grants of more than 5 millions US dollars (Marie Curie ITN PROVISION, UHD4U on Ultra High Definition TV, JEDI on 3DTV, HD4U on HDTV, Scalim@ges on H264 SVC, SVC4QoE on the scalability management using ad hoc quality assessment tools, Futurim@ges on HDR Image rendering and autosteroscopic TV, Safim@ges on content traceability over Internet, TSAR on storage and distribution of High Resolution cultural heritage paintings, Equimose on quality of experience related to medical Imaging and PACS systems). Moreover, he is supervising several research contracts with companies such as Orange labs or Thomson Corporate Research. 

He also co-chairs within the VQEG (Video Quality Expert Group) the “HDR Group” and “3DTV” activities. He is currently serving as associate editor for IEEE transactions on Circuit System and Video Technology, SPRINGER EURASIP Journal on Image and Video Processing, and SPIE Electronic Imaging.
